Golf's greatest player won 13 majors and retired at age 28. With the old equpment, on a calm day, Jones wrote in his book about carrying a drive 340 yds. into the side of a hill. At 5 ft. 8 in. 165 ibs. Jones didn't exercize, drank, and smoked. It was all about swinging the clubhead with very little interference to create speed. My late teacher Nick Martino, watched Jones on calm day carry a drive 320 yds. on a uphill par 5 hole. Jones driver was 40 inches long, had a wooden head, and he used an inferior ball to today's. Jones gave my teacher Nick the ball he used that I saw. He created so much force that the black paint from the clubhead was embedded in the ball. Jones was

Arnie Frankel is a great teacher. He helped so many members at my club. When Arnie first got to Engineers, I asked him to play. Arnie taught me to swing the clubhead the same way Ernest Jones taught me in his indoor New York City studio years ago. Many things Manuel de la Torre teaches is not 

correct or what Jones taught. I know because I worked with Manuel in his golf school in Wisconsin.

As a beginner I only took one lesson. Instead of the ball flying, my clubhead went flying. After my club broke, I decided the game wasn’t for me.
