GOLF'S ONE COMMON DENOMINATOR
WHAT CLUBHEAD MOTION CREATES THE GREATEST SPEED AND
FORCE? WHAT IS THE ULTIMATE REPETITIVE MOTION? IT'S WHAT ALL
GREAT PLAYERS DO BUT CAN'T EXPLAlN. SCIENCE PROVES IT'S THE
ONLY SECRET TO GOLF. INDISPUTABLE LAWS OF MOTION PROVE THAT
MECHANICS IS NOT THE CAUSE OF GOOD AND GREAT GOLF. WITHOUT
A SWINGING MOTION PRESENT IN THE CLUBHEAD IT'S SCIENTIFICALLY
IMPOSSIBLE FOR ANY GOLFER TO PLAY WELL. WITH A SWINGING
MOTION ANY GOLFER CAN PLAY WELL. ONLY THE CLUBHEAD STRIKES
THE BALL!
GOLF IS A GAME OF FEEL. THE USBGA TOLD ME THAT A BLIND GOLFER
SHOT 74 FOR !8 HOLES. A NEVADA COLLEGE KINESIOLOGY GOLF TEAM
STUDY PROVED SWINGING THE CLUB IS BETTER THAN MECHANICS.
YOU HAVE ONE CLUBHEAD MOTION AND FEEL FOR ALL SHOTS IN GOLF.
ONE STUDENT TOLD ME, "IT'S A GREAT RELIEF TO HAVE JUST ONE
THING TO CONCENTRATE ON THAT WORKS."
FOR 40 YEARS, ERNEST JONES WAS AMERICA'S FOREMOST AND MOST
SUCCESSFUL TEACHER. JONES UNMATCHED TEACHING RECORD WITH
BEGINNERS TO MANY NATIONAL CHAMPIONS PROVED THAT TO PLAY
GOOD AND GREAT GOLF YOU ONLY HAD TO LEARN TO SWING THE
CLUBHEAD. MOVE THE CLUBHEAD WITH A SWINGING MOTION
BY FEEL AND YOUR DONE. SCIENCE GUARANTEES GOOD AND GREAT
SHOTS. JONES SAID, "HOW MANY THINGS CAN YOU THINK OF AT
ONCE?" HE COINED THE PHRASE, "ANALYSIS IS PARALYSIS." MY
SPECIAL LINK TO JONES (IN THE ABOUT SECTION) MAKES ME THE
LAST LIVING PURE TEACHER OF THE PRINCIPLE JONES TAUGHT. THE
DICTIONARY DEFINES PRINCIPLE AS A LAW. IN HIS BOOK, MANUEL DE
LA TORRE'S 30 PAGES OF DIFFERENT BALL FLIGHT CORRECTIONS
WOULD HAVE JONES TURNING OVER IN HIS GRAVE. JONES SAID, "YOU
MUST TEACH IT PURE." FOR 56 YEARS, I'VE SEEN THE SWINGING
MOTION CORRECT AND WORK FOR EVERY SHOT IN GOLF. IF HISTORY
REPEATS ITSELF, THE PURITY, SIMPLICITY, AND INDISPUTABLE LAWS
BEHIND SWINGING THE CLUBHEAD WILL ONCE AGAIN THE GOLD
STANDARD FOR CONSISTENT IMPROVEMENT IN GOLF.
THE ICONIC PHIL MICKELSON (WINNER OF 6 MAJORS AND 45 PGA
TOUR EVENTS) SAID, "TEACHERS SHOULD TEACH LIKE ERNEST
JONES..." AFTER A POWERFUL TALK BY ERNEST JONES TO THE
NATIONAL PGA OF AMERICA, THE LEGENDARY BOBBY JONES
ENDORSED WHAT ERNEST TAUGHT AS A MUCH SIMPLER MORE
EFFECTIVE WAY TO TEACH AND PLAY (IN THE CENTURY OF SUCCESS
SECTION NEAR THE END OF THIS PAGE).
WHEN THE FORMER HEAD OF THE NATIONAL PGA TEACHING DIVISION
ASKED ME, "HOW, AFTER ONLY A FEW LESSONS COULD ERNEST
JONES MAKE A BEGINNER LOOK LIKE THEY PLAYED FOR 10 YEARS?"
MY RESPONSE WAS, "INSTRUCTION TEACHES WHAT A SWING
PRODUCES (BODY MOVES, POSITIONS, FUNDAMENTALS, ETC.). ERNEST
JONES, 3 LATE TEACHERS, AND I TEACH HOW TO PRODUCE A SWING.
INSTRUCTION IS BACKWARDS! WHEN YOU SWING THE CLUBHEAD
EVERYTHING HAPPENS AUTOMATICALLY." A CENTURY OF SUCCESS
WITH ALL SKILL LEVELS, MY TWO-MINUTE YOUTUBE VIDEO, AND MY
BEST SELLING GOLF SWING MOTION DVD GOLFERS CAN PURCHASE
PROVES THIS FACT.
MY LIFE'S WORK IS TO GROW THE GREAT GAME BY MAKING GOOD
AND GREAT GOLF DRAMATICALLY SIMPLER! SOUNDER! SAFER! AND
SELF-CORRECTING! THIS WILL CREATE FUTURE GENERATIONS OF
BETTER SKILLED LESS INJURED GOLFERS. MILLIONS OF GOLFERS,
INCLUDING MANY TOUR PROS, STRUGGLE NEEDLESSLY FOR
CONSISTENT IMPROVEMENT IN GOLF.
INSTRUCTION IS TOO HARD!
Most golfer's play poorly. Data shows that only 55% of golfers break 100, and 2-5% break 80. The problem is well-intended mechanic instruction is too hard mentally and physically.
On the range (on TV) at a PGA tour event in Chicago, Tiger stated that this leads to that, that to this, this to that, etc. A US Ryder Cup captain, Paul Azinger, stated that you find a fix that works, you exaggerate the fix and need a new fix. One teacher or great player say's one thing another something else. Mechanic fixes online and on TV are endless. How many things can you think of in the approx. 1.2 seconds it takes to strike a shot?
Science has no fixes or golf tips. When you learn the simple truth about the golf swing, you're guaranteed to play better golf. Fast. Go to my students documented Testimonials for legitimate results.
SPENDING TIME WITH LEGENDS -- SAM SNEAD AND GARY PLAYER
POSITIONS, SWING WITH THE HANDS, FUNDAMENTALS, SWING PLANE, ETC.
As a teaching pro in the 70's I qualified for a PGA tour event. In the locker room was the iconic Sam Snead. The winner of a tied record 82 PGA tour events was correct telling me, "You can have great positions and a lousy swing, lousy positions and a great swing." When I asked Snead, "What starts and swings the club?" Snead laughed, held up his hands and said, "What do you think I hold the club with." When I told Snead I heard you have a natural swing he said, "A million balls later." Snead validated what I teach when he said, "All I ever worked on was rhythm." My simple demo proves that with all clubs only a swinging motion creates rhythm (a recurring beat) in golf.
At another PGA Tour event I qualified for I was paired with Gary Player. The iconic winner of 9 majors said, "For every fundamental in golf I'll show you a superstar who doesn't do it." Recently, I heard a PGA tour announcer on TV say, " I don't know why he missed the shot, everything looked good." With a trained teaching eye (watching only the clubhead motion) I could see
the clubhead wasn't swinging. Shocking Instruction Myths in the new digital global instruction package I'm creating will be eye-opening.
GOLF'S ONE COMMON DENOMINATOR
WHAT ALL GREAT PLAYERS DO BUT CAN'T EXPLAIN
THE ONLY SECRET TO GOLF
Every golfer I've ever met would love to discover one swing thought, one feel, guaranteed by indisputable laws to work for all clubs and shots. Swinging the clubhead by feel is that one thing. A swinging motion is a specific clubhead motion, with a specific feel, that any golfer can learn.
To see a true swinging motion watch a child swinging on a swing. You can't see the great force (centrifugal in nature) and accuracy because it's so smooth and even to your eye. Swinging wrecking balls knock down tall buildings. Some tour pro examples are Louie Oosthuizen, Fred Couples, Ernie Els, and Annika on the LPGA tour. It's what all great players do but can't explain. They can't explain it because they (and you) can only feel it. A swinging motion is present in the clubhead of every great player that ever lived. Laws of motion don't lie!
BOBBY JONES QUOTE
"The one idea for the golfer to keep always in his mind is that when playing a shot, his job is to swing the clubhead. If he does that hitting the ball will take care of itself." Golf's greatest player won 13 majors and retired at age 28. Jones won 44% of the majors he played in. A higher percentage of wins than Jack Nicklaus or Tiger Woods.
ONLY THE CLUBHEAD STRIKES THE BALL!
The more you feel what the clubhead is doing, and the less know what your body is doing the better you'll play, and the more you'll enjoy golf. I've taught one arm and one leg golfers who score in the 70's. One was scratch.
THE LAWS OF FORCE -- THE LAW OF THE PENDULUM
THE TRUTH ABOUT DISTANCE, ACCURACY, AND CONSISTENCY
JACK NICKLAUS ON DISTANCE
For distance science proves only a swinging motion creates the greatest force (centrifugal in nature) that a human can produce. In the Olympics the shot-putter pushes a 16 lb. weight 70 ft. The hammer-thrower swings a 16 lb. weight 270 ft. With all clubs the less you interfere with the swinging motion the greater your speed and distance. After Morikawa won the Memorial the iconic Jack Nicklaus said, "He swings the club to get his distance." When recreational golfers ask, "How can I get more distance?" I tell them learn to swing the clubhead by feel. All sports played well are played by feel.
For accuracy and consistency science proves only a swinging motion acts like a pendulum. The swinging pendulum is the ultimate repetitive motion. No wonder, Johnny Miller during one of the greatest hot streaks in the history of golf told a leading golf magazine, "I swing the club like a pendulum." In 1974 Miller won 8 PGA tour events. In 1975 he won a PGA tour event in the desert by 14 shots.
THE TRUTH ABOUT RHYTHM, TIMING, AND BALANCE
SAM SNEAD ON RHYTHM -- TIGER ON BALANCE
For perfect rhythm watch a child's swinging motion on a swing. You can count to the recurring beat (rhythm) through a small arc like putting, or a large arc like driving. When the iconic Sam Snead told me that all he ever worked on was rhythm, unknowingly Snead was working on swinging the clubhead by feel.
For perfect timing the child's swinging motion is accelerating at the bottom of the arc where the club and ball make contact. With a swinging motion you eliminate fat shots, thin shots, and decelerating. Your clubface
will always come back to it's starting point or square. It's a law!
A spinning top stays balanced because of the force. When you swing the clubhead the force keeps you balanced. My one-legged student Steve Fangio (with a great attitude) was an inspiration at golf events. Steve drove 270 yds., and shot 68 on a tough desert course in Arizona. Tiger said, "My swing keeps me balanced."
THE ROOT CAUSE OF POOR SHOTS
WHY TOUR PROS FALL OFF THE CHARTS
AND MILLIONS OF GOLFERS STRUGGLE
FOR CONSISTENT IMPROVEMENT
Instead of a swinging motion, golfers move the clubhead with a jerking, pushing, pulling, guide/steer, and other wrong motions. With all clubs these motions destroy speed for distance, don't act like a pendulum for accuracy and consistency, and destroy rhythm, timing, and balance.
When a poor shot results, instead of correcting the clubhead motion teachers and golfers correct body parts, moves, positions, etc. If it works the golfer attributes their new found success to the fix -- you exaggerate the fix and need a new fix. The end result is the experimenting merry-go-round, frustration, and never reaching your potential in the game you love. My powerful story in the (About) section explains my passion that instruction must change. My instruction gives golfers mental and physical freedom to play better golf and enjoy the game more. The iconic Bobby Jones said, "My swing is a free unrestricted motion." The operative word is free!
ELIMINATING THE TWO GREATEST OBSTACLES FOR ALL GOLFERS
HOW TO STAY FOCUSED
"My problem today was thinking too much." Jack Nicklaus. The two
greatest obstacles for all golfers are the mind and eyes. Your mind gets you thinking too much. Your eyes see all the hazards on the course. By focusing only on swinging the clubhead by feel you won't have time to worry about anything else (including outcome). You won't be thinking, you'll be feeling.
SWINGING VS. MECHANICS -- FIVE MAJOR ADVANTAGES
1. You can't exaggerate a swinging motion. Any mechanic fix (body
moves, positions, etc.) can easily be exaggerated leading to new
fixes.
2. Mechanics are negative. What you do wrong can change. Creating
a swinging motion is positive. The motion never changes. All that
changes is the club you use. Ph.D. Psychologists who love how I
teach call it, "Errorless Learning." I call it a positive way to play.
3. Doing 9 different trouble shots for Golf Magazine I proved it's rare to
need adjustments. Striking good shots, the swinging motion always
brought the clubface back to its starting point or square. It's a law!
From all kinds of positions trick shot artists prove this fact. After a
great show where I taught in Michigan, the late Paul Hahn Jr. told
me, "I use the same feel for all my shots."
4. Take your range game to the course - When you feel the clubhead
swinging on the range, or green, you'll be able to take that feel to
the course.
SELF-CORRECT FOR ANY SHOT IN GOLF
5. Feeling only for the swinging motion of the clubhead (an outward
pull of the clubhead centrifugal in nature) you get instant feel
feedback with all clubs. You become your own coach!
WHY GOLF INJURIES ARE SKYROCKETING
TIGER WOODS
Data shows 90% of pros and 70% of recreational golfers will have a golf related injury. Mechanics aren't natural. When you do something not natural to your anatomy, and repeat it over and over you're a strain or injury waiting to happen. The modern style of creating the swing is a prime example. Tiger fired four well-intended mechanic teachers. One stated that he may have added to Tiger's physical problems. Another stated that he may not know what's right but he knows what's wrong. What's sad is mechanics is all teachers know or are taught. There is a much safer, sounder, simpler, self-correcting way to play with a century of success.
SCIENCE CREATES SAFETY
ELIMINATING MECHANICS -- THE SAFEST WAY TO PLAY
JACK NICKLAUS
With a swinging motion all body parts naturally follow the clubhead motion without strain. The outward pull of the weight of the clubhead (centrifugal in nature caused by the swinging motion) automatically creates weight shift, body turn, swing plane, delayed release, balance, follow-through, etc. For proof watch my 2-minute YouTube video, and it's explained in my classic 1992 DVD you can purchase. Jack Nicklaus told a struggling OSU mens golf team player to "swing the weight of the clubhead." Great advice from the iconic winner of a record 18 majors.
ALL SPORTS PLAYED WELL ARE PLAYED BY FEEL
COMPUTERS CAN'T FEEL
Ask NBA superstar Steph Curry how he makes 3-point baskets from downtown. Steph feels it in his hands and fingers. He doesn't analyze body moves or positions. With 8 major wins, the iconic Tom Watson said, "The better my feel, the better I play. It's that simple." I couldn't agree more! Tom wrote me a nice note with a US Ryder Cup captain heading.
WHEN MY STUDENTS STRIKE GOOD SHOTS FOUR THINGS HAPPEN
1. They know the specific feel that works for all shots in golf.
2. They know how to get that feel.
3. They know how to practice the feel indoors and on the range.
4. They know how to get the feel back when elusive.
A CENTURY OF SUCCESS, 1924-2024
THE MOST THOUGHT PROVOKING TALK EVER GIVEN TO THE PGA
THE FUTURE OF GOLF
Because of his remarkable teaching record (teaching all skill levels to swing the clubhead), in 1950, the scholarly one-legged Ernest Jones was invited to be the main speaker at the PGA annual meeting. In one 15-year stretch 7 Jones' students won the US National Championship and 7 finished 2nd. For 40 years Jones was America's foremost teacher. He helped tens of thousands of recreational golfers make good golf easy.
At the meeting the iconic Bobby Jones told the PGA what they need is a simple effective way to teach, and Ernest Jones gave an excellent talk. The incoming PGA President Horton Smith stated it's too simple, "We wouldn't sell enough lessons." Jones replied, "You want them to suffer further." A golf writer wrote, "Jones gave five times the lessons of other pros." Jones said, "You can always learn more about what is right." When my DVD The Golf Swing Motion came out in 1992, my national golf school filled for years. Ironically, Smith, a 2-time Masters winner took lessons from Ernest Jones.
My late teacher Nick Martino was Jones confidant for more than 35 years. I spent 7 years with Nick. He was proud of the 15 club champions he created on Long Island. Nick taught me everything he learned pure and uncorrupted from the man he called "The Master." The scholarly Jones is the only teacher in The World Golf Teachers Hall of Fame who taught no mechanics. Jones called mechanics, "A long circuitous route to good golf." The basic laws, simplicity, and common sense behind the principle I teach is the future of golf. Only the clubhead strikes the ball. Move it with a swinging motion by feel and science guarantees good and great shots -- the less you interfere with the motion the better any golfer plays. A golf writer wrote, "Ernest Jones never lost an argument about the golf swing." You can't argue against common sense and fundamental laws of motion.
VALIDATION FROM MY COUSIN THE PHYSICIST
THE ROOT CAUSE OF GOOD AND GREAT GOLF
JACK NICKLAUS ON MOTION
At the University of Colorado, I explained what I teach to my brilliant research physicist cousin Art, and the four doctoral students he was helping, (None played golf). When they said, "It can't be anything else. What do they teach in golf?" my response was, "They dissect the swing (which is a specific motion) into body parts, moves, positions, etc. and expect golfers to put the pieces together and play well." The iconic Jack Nicklaus remarked that like baseball, tennis, (and other sports) golf is a motion. The question is what motion? The motion must be made with the clubhead because only the clubhead strikes the ball.
Watching a child swinging on a swing, nobody can call anything but that specific motion a swing. Fundamental laws prove the swinging motion is the root cause of good and great golf. The less you interfere with the motion the better any golfer plays. Period. The golfer who learns to swing the clubhead by feel will have a lifetime of good self-correcting golf.

TIGER WOODS
Tiger talked about feeling shots with his hands. And after all his surgeries that he still had good use of his hands. Only your hands contact the club. Only through the feel in your hands can you feel what the clubhead is doing. To get the feel of the swinging motion Tiger practiced putting with his eyes closed.
GARY PLAYER
As previously mentioned I was paired with the iconic Gary Player at a PGA tour event. On the range Player said, "When you have the feel you can do anything you want." Gary changed his grip, stance, positions, and struck shot after shot at his target. With a trained teaching eye, watching only his clubhead motion, I saw a swinging motion with little interference. Nobody swings with zero interference, but you can get close. With all clubs, the less you interfere with the swinging motion the better you're shot. Period!
THE SECRET TO TRICK SHOTS
Sitting in a chair in The Golf Swing Motion DVD, I strike a full 8-iron to an uphill green for a birdie putt. All I concentrated on was swinging the clubhead by feel with my hands. I was sitting on the largest muscle, the gludeus maximus. The small muscles, not the large muscles swing the club. There are countless instruction myths.
GETTING A SQUARE CLUBFACE AT IMPACT WITH ALL CLUBS
The 1995 US Open winner, Corey Pavin, remarked that all he wanted was a square clubface at impact. The swinging pendulum is the ultimate repetitive motion. When you feel a swinging motion, your clubface comes back to it's starting point, or square from any position with all clubs.
The DVD will give you more distance, accuracy, and consistency
with much less physical and mental effort.

A SWING FOR A LIFETIME -- JOHN MONDANTE'S STORY
ONCE YOU LEARN TO SWING THE CLUBHEAD BY FEEL, YOU WILL HAVE A
SWING FOR A LIFETIME OF GOOD SELF-CORRECTING GOLF. IN HIS 80's, MY
TEACHER NICK'S COUSIN JOHN MONDANTE HAD A 3 HANDICAP. IN THE 30'S,
HE LEARNED TO SWING THE CLUBHEAD FROM THE ICONIC ERNEST JONES.
JOHN TOLD ME, "WHEN THE TOUR PROS CAME TO LONG ISLAND WE HAD
MONEY MATCHES AND I COULD BEAT THEM ALL." WHEN I ASKED JOHN WHY
HE DIDN'T TURN PRO, HE SAID, "BACK THEN THERE WAS NO MONEY IN
TOURNAMENT GOLF, AND I HAD FIVE KIDS TO FEED." MORAL OF THE STORY --
LEARN TO SWING THE CLUBHEAD BY FEEL.
